Origins and Classification

  • Family: Poeciliidae (Livebearers)
  • Origin: Originally from South America (Trinidad, Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil); White Koi guppies are a selectively bred strain developed by aquarists.
  • Popularity: Extremely popular in the aquarium hobby for their striking white and red coloration, hardy nature, and livebearing breeding habits.

    • Predominantly snowy white body with bright red/orange markings on the head or fins (koi-like pattern).
    • Some strains have metallic iridescence.
