- Origin: Found in tropical and subtropical waters across Southeast Asia, the Indo-Pacific region, and parts of Africa.
- Popularity: Admired for its unusual body shape and surface-hunting behavior, Halfbeaks are fascinating additions to both freshwater and brackish aquariums.
🎨 Appearance
- Color: Silvery to greenish sheen along the body with a translucent underside.
- Structure:
- Long, slender, torpedo-shaped body.
- Distinctive beak-like mouth — the lower jaw is much longer than the upper.
- Short dorsal fin located near the tail.
- Size: Common aquarium varieties reach 3–4 inches (7–10 cm), while wild species can grow up to 12–24 inches (30–60 cm).
- Lifespan: 3–5 years with proper tank conditions.
