  • Origin: Selectively bred in China & Japan; ornamental strain developed from common goldfish.
  • Popularity: Loved for its colorful calico pattern and iconic head growth (wen).

🎨 Appearance

  • Color/Pattern: Multicolor calico mix (orange, red, white, blue/grey, and black) with speckles across body and fins.
  • Distinctive Features:
    • Prominent wen (hood) over head.
    • Rounded body, double tail, flowing fins; slower swimmer than commons.
  • Size: Typically 6–8 in (15–20 cm) in aquariums.
  • Lifespan: 10–15+ years with excellent care.
