  • Origin: Native to South America (Trinidad, Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil); Electric Blue is a selectively bred aquarium strain.
  • Popularity: Highly prized for their glowing neon-blue coloration and hardy, adaptable nature. Very popular in community aquariums and breeding projects.

🎨 Appearance

  • Body Color:
    • Shimmering iridescent neon blue body and tail.
    • Some strains show metallic hues under light.
  • Distinctive Features:
    • Sleek, streamlined body.
    • Males: longer, colorful tails (delta/fan-shaped).
    • Females: larger, less intensely colored but still show blue shimmer.
  • Size: Small — males 1.2–1.5 inches (3–4 cm); females 2–2.5 inches (5–6 cm).
  • Lifespan: 2–3 years with good care.

🏡 Tank Requirements

  • Tank Size: Minimum 10 gallons (keep in groups; 1 male per 2–3 females ideal).
  • Water Parameters:
    • Temperature: 72–82°F (22–28°C)
    • pH: 6.8–7.8
    • Water Hardness: Moderately hard water preferred.
  • Habitat Setup:
    • Live plants (great for fry hiding spots).
    • Provide swimming space and calm water flow.
    • Peaceful tank mates recommended.
    • Frequent water changes — guppies are sensitive to dirty water.
