- Origin: Originally bred in China and Japan, selectively developed for ornamental beauty.
- Popularity: One of the most admired fancy goldfish varieties, prized for its distinct head growth (“wen”) and elegant color contrast of deep black and vibrant red.
🎨 Appearance
- Body Color: Striking mix of velvety black and bright red — usually red around the head or fins with black across the body and back.
- Distinctive Features:
- Prominent hood or wen growth over the head, unique to Orandas.
- Rounded body with flowing double tail fins.
- Graceful swimming motion, slower than standard goldfish.
- Size: Medium — typically 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) in aquariums.
- Lifespan: 10–15 years with excellent care and clean water.
🏡 Tank Requirements
- Tank Size: Minimum 30 gallons for one Oranda (add 10–15 gallons per additional fish).

- Temperature: 65–75°F (18–24°C)
- pH: 6.5–7.5

- Habitat Setup:
- Use smooth gravel or sand to prevent injury to the wen.
- Provide open swimming space and gentle filtration (avoid strong currents).
