Origins and Classification

  • Origin: Native to South America, particularly Brazil, where they inhabit fast-flowing, shallow rivers with sandy and rocky bottoms.
  • Popularity: Loved for their tiny size, peaceful nature, and excellent algae-eating ability — one of the best plecos for small tanks and community aquariums.
