- Origin: Native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, where they inhabit clear streams, rice paddies, and slow-moving waters. The Fancy Longfin variety is selectively bred for its elongated, flowing fins and enhanced color.
- Popularity: Extremely popular for community tanks due to their hardiness, peaceful schooling behavior, and eye-catching long fins.
